Norman Watt-Roy releases his first ever solo album “Faith and Grace” on 22 July 2013 through Cadiz Music.

Norman, the legendary rock cult figure, is in fact an avid jazz enthusiast, his greatest musical heroes are Charlie Parker, Jaco Pastorius, Duke Ellington and John Coltrane. Norman's legendary bass lines were always an attempt to combine rock simplicity and jazz walking bass patterns (Rhythm Stick). When Norman was asked by Gilad to define the Blockheads many years ago, Norman answer was “we are basically a Jazz band with audience”. Norman surrounded himself by the leading British Jazz musicians Gilad Atzmon, Frank Harrison, Dylan Howe, Asaf Sirkis, Enzo Zirrili. Atzmon built a new musical content around Norman’s most famous bass lines: ‘Save It’ is structured over Blockheads' ‘Rhythm Stick’, ‘Norman Norman’ is based on the Clash’s ‘Magnificent 7’ and Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s ‘Relax’. The album pays sonic tribute to Weather Report (John & Mary), Victor Young (‘My Foolish Heart’). But it also schleps ‘Billericay Dickie’ to the Smokey Jazz club.
